Estimator
Job Description
We are recruiting for an Estimator to join an established and expanding specialist re-cladding contractor.
The company delivers fa-ade remediation and external wall replacement projects within the residential and social-housing sectors. It has a clear pipeline of approximately 20 live and upcoming projects, creating an excellent opportunity for an Estimator seeking long-term progression.
We would particularly like to speak with candidates who have worked within social housing for a main contractor, refurbishment contractor or fa-ade specialist. Experience with businesses such as Mitie, Willmott Dixon, Vistry or similar organisations would be highly relevant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed estimates for fa-ade remediation and re-cladding projects.
- Review tender documents, drawings, specifications and scopes of work.
- Produce accurate take-offs and bills of quantities.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from subcontractors, suppliers and manufacturers.
- Assess labour, material, access and preliminary costs.
- Identify commercial risks, exclusions, qualifications and opportunities.
- Prepare tender submissions and supporting commercial information.
- Work closely with the commercial, design and operational teams.
- Attend tender meetings, site visits and pre-contract discussions.
- Maintain accurate estimating records and pricing information.
- Support handovers to the delivery and commercial teams following successful tenders.
- Assist with value engineering and alternative fa-ade solutions.
Requirements:
- Previous estimating experience within social housing, refurbishment, planned maintenance or fa-ades.
- Experience pricing residential refurbishment or external works packages.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and tender information.
- Good understanding of subcontractor and supplier procurement.
- Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
- Commercially aware with excellent attention to detail.
- Able to manage multiple tenders and work to strict deadlines.
- Fa-ade or re-cladding experience would be advantageous but is not essential where transferable social-housing experience is demonstrated.
Office Attendance:
- Experienced fa-ade estimators may be offered a hybrid arrangement, with approximately two or three days per week in the office.
- Candidates transferring from another sector will initially be expected to attend the office full-time while receiving training and development.
This is a strong opportunity to join a growing specialist contractor with an established workload and the ability to develop candidates with relevant transferable experience.
