Maintenance Manager

Altera Recruitment Group is partnering with a specialist energy and process manufacturing business operating an advanced gasification facility in Leicestershire. They are looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead the site's mechanical, electrical and multiskilled maintenance team.

This is a key site leadership position with responsibility for safe, compliant and cost effective preventative and reactive maintenance across a complex energy generation environment. The role will play an important part in maximising plant availability, improving reliability and ensuring the site continues to meet its operational and regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will have a strong maintenance management background within an industrial, manufacturing, process or energy environment, together with the leadership skills to develop a multidisciplinary team and drive a proactive maintenance culture.

Key Responsibilities of the Maintenance Manager

  • Lead, coach and develop the mechanical, electrical and multiskilled Maintenance Team, including performance reviews and training plans.

  • Oversee planned and reactive maintenance, plant breakdowns, PPM and CBM activities, ensuring high levels of plant availability.

  • Plan and manage planned outages, including contractor coordination, resource planning, budgets and post outage reviews.

  • Manage external contractors, critical spares, maintenance budgets and the site's CMMS, ensuring appropriate controls and records are maintained.

  • Lead root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to improve plant reliability, while maintaining compliance with PSSR, LOLER, COSHH and site safety requirements.

Candidate Requirements

  • HNC, HND or degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or an equivalent time served apprenticeship with relevant management experience.

  • Proven experience in a maintenance management role within an industrial, manufacturing, process or similar environment.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a focus on development, performance and continuous improvement.

  • Experience with permit to work systems, safe isolation, CMMS, maintenance budgets and planned outages.

  • Strong technical problem solving skills, with a proactive approach to preventative maintenance, plant reliability, health and safety and regulatory compliance.

Experience within power generation, biomass, energy from waste or a process industry would be advantageous. NEBOSH General Certificate and knowledge of reliability centred maintenance or root cause analysis techniques would also be beneficial.
