Location: Kettering, Northamptonshire
Salary: -5400056000+ Bonus + Good Pension
Shift: 8 hour shift rotation, lots of time off
Employment: Permanent

Maintenance Engineer

The Role

We are working with an award-winning manufacturer that is looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join its engineering team on a shift-based pattern.

This is a hands-on, reactive maintenance role, where the main responsibility will be responding to breakdowns and getting production machinery back up and running as quickly and safely as possible.

The role would suit a Maintenance Engineer who enjoys fault finding, diagnosing problems and carrying out repairs in a busy manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond quickly to mechanical and electrical breakdowns across the manufacturing site.
  • Diagnose faults and identify the root cause of machinery failures.
  • Carry out reactive maintenance and repairs to minimise production downtime.
  • Repair and replace mechanical and electrical components as required.
  • Fault find on motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, sensors, pneumatics and other production equipment.
  • Work safely and efficiently under pressure during breakdown situations.
  • Support production teams by resolving engineering issues promptly.
  • Carry out basic adjustments and modifications to machinery where required.
  • Maintain accurate records of breakdowns and engineering work.
  • Follow all site health and safety procedures and engineering standards.

The Person

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer with a strong practical engineering background and the ability to fault find effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The successful Maintenance Engineer will be confident dealing with breakdowns and be able to diagnose faults quickly and carry out effective repairs with minimal disruption to production.

A multi-skilled background would be beneficial, with either a mechanical or electrical bias considered.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous Maintenance Engineer experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong reactive maintenance and breakdown experience.
  • Good mechanical and/or electrical fault-finding skills.
  • Experience working on production machinery.
  • Ability to diagnose faults quickly and effectively.
  • Experience with conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pumps, pneumatics and other industrial machinery.
  • Multi-skilled engineering experience would be advantageous.
  • Able to work effectively under pressure.
  • Good understanding of health and safety within a manufacturing environment.
