Outreach Tutor - Cambridge

Prospero Teaching is seeking a experienced Tutor to deliver personalised 1:1 tuition to pupils in or around Cambridge who have additional learning and behavioural needs.

In this role, you will create and deliver bespoke lessons aimed at bridging learning gaps, boosting confidence, and helping students reconnect with education. Many of the pupils you support may have been away from mainstream education for some time, so a patient, adaptable, and encouraging approach is essential.

Position Details

• Location - Cambridge
• Position - 1:1 Outreach Tutor
• Start date - ASAP
• End date (if applicable) - N/A
• Full time/part time - Part time and full time depending on availability
• Minimum rate of pay - Minimum rate -25 per hour

Key Responsibilities

• Complete baseline assessments with the student to understand their individual needs.
• Plan and deliver tutoring sessions which have been tailored to their needs.
• Provide support in core subjects including Maths, English and Science.
• Build the students confidence, and encourage independence and positive study habits.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to parents/carers where required.

Requirements

• QTS, equivalent teaching qualification, or relevant learning support experience.
• At least 6 months experience teaching or tutoring students.
• A strong understanding of the PMY/SEC curriculum.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Be able to provide a calm, supportive and positive learning environment.
• Patient, adaptable and encouraging approach.

To be eligible for the Outreach Tutor position through Prospero Teaching you must:

• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Provide two professional educational references that cover the last two years
