Principal Bridge Engineer

Role Summary-
Experienced Senior / Principal Engineer providing technical leadership to deliver defined packages of bridge and structural engineering work. Accountable for quality, programme, and technical oversight within a multi-disciplinary team.-

Key Responsibilities-
  • Lead delivery of small to medium work packages (inspection, assessment, design, or renewal schemes) to programme and budget-
  • Provide technical direction, checking, and approval of designs, calculations, and reports-
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers; support capability within the team-
  • Act as a key interface with clients and internal disciplines-
  • Ensure compliance with standards, specifications, and governance processes-
  • Contribute to planning, risk management, and commercial awareness on projects-
Required Experience & Skills-
  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)-
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE /-MIStructE)-
  • Strong background in bridge/structures design, assessment, or asset management-
  • Demonstrable experience leading technical delivery of projects-
  • Proficient in relevant design codes, analysis methods, and reporting-
  • Effective communicator with ability to work across disciplines-
Desirable-
  • Experience working with Local Authority or rail-related structures-
  • Familiarity with asset management systems and inspection regimes-
  • Experience acting as CRE, checker, or design lead on projects-
