Probate Solicitor
Job Description
We are currently recruiting for a Probate Solicitor to join an established Law firm based in Woodstock.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality legal advice and representation to clients in relation to Probate and Estate Administration matters, managing a varied caseload and maintaining excellent client relationships.
This is a great opportunity for a proactive and client-focused solicitor who is comfortable handling matters independently, delivering excellent client care and contributing to the continued growth of the department.
The role is Full-time, however, part-time will be considered for the right candidate. Salary £35k to £50k FTE DOE, some scope for hybrid working.-
Key Responsibilities
Legal Advisory & Case Management
- Provide high-quality legal advice on Probate and Estate Administration matters.
- Manage a varied caseload with appropriate supervision and support.
- Draft, review and finalise legal documents in line with regulatory and firm standards.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant legislation, professional standards and internal procedures.
- Deliver excellent client care and maintain strong, trusted client relationships.
- Progress matters efficiently and proactively, keeping clients informed throughout.
Client Engagement & Business Development
- Represent the firm professionally at networking events, seminars and community engagements.
- Develop and nurture new business opportunities and referral relationships.
- Identify and capture new Probate and Estate Administration matters by recognising client needs and offering suitable services.
- Support the long-term growth of the department through repeat business, cross-referrals and client retention.
- Contribute to the firm's professional reputation through excellent client service and community engagement.
Commercial Awareness & Profitability
- Ensure matters are handled efficiently to maintain and improve department profitability.
- Keep accurate time records, bill proactively and support timely invoicing and cashflow.
- Monitor the financial performance of files and take appropriate steps to maximise recoverability.
- Contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency and client service.
- Demonstrate commercial awareness when advising clients and managing matters.
Team Support & Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver excellent client outcomes.
- Share knowledge and best practice with team members.
- Support junior colleagues where appropriate and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Assist with the smooth operation of the department and wider firm.
Skills & Experience
We are ideally looking for a Qualified Solicitor with experience in Probate and Estate Administration work.
You should have:

Strong technical knowledge of Probate procedures and estate administration.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The ability to manage a caseload effectively and independently.

Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

A commitment to providing exceptional client care.

Commercial awareness and an understanding of efficient file management and billing.
Experience in the following areas would be advantageous, but is not essential:

Drafting Wills.

Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs).

Trust administration and trust-related matters.
-
Court of Protection work.
-
Networking and business development activities.
A STEP qualification would also be desirable, although this is not essential. The firm would be happy to support the right candidate in working towards the qualification.
