Site Manager - Earthworks and Drainage Project
Location: Leiston, Suffolk
Contract: Temporary to Permanent
Rate: Up to £350 per day
Project Value: Approximately £5 million
We are currently recruiting an experienced Site Manager to join an established earthworks contractor based in Ipswich.
The successful candidate will oversee a £5 million drainage project near Leiston, involving a mixture of deep and shallow drainage works, earthworks and associated groundworks.
The Site Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the project, ensuring all works are completed safely, efficiently, within budget and in line with the construction programme.
Role and Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the daily management and successful delivery of the project.
- Manage deep and shallow drainage, earthworks and associated groundworks.
- Coordinate site labour, subcontractors, plant and materials.
- Ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.
- Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks, inspections and daily briefings.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures, risk assessments and method statements.
- Monitor progress against the construction programme and address any potential delays.
- Liaise with clients, engineers, subcontractors and senior management.
- Maintain accurate site records, progress reports and quality documentation.
- Coordinate deliveries, site logistics and plant movements.
- Ensure excavations, temporary works and drainage installations are completed correctly and safely.
Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Site Manager on earthworks, drainage, civil engineering or groundworks projects.
- Strong experience managing deep drainage and excavation works.
- Good knowledge of shallow drainage, earthworks, site logistics and temporary works.
- Experience managing labour, subcontractors, plant and site programmes.
- Strong understanding of health and safety requirements within civil engineering environments.
- Confident reading construction drawings and working alongside engineers.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Valid SMSTS qualification.
- Valid CSCS card.
- First Aid certification.
- Temporary Works Coordinator or Supervisor qualification would be advantageous.
